Water Carnival!

It's that time again! Detroit Lakes is buzzing with activity and the lake is where the action is this week!

This week's Saturday SUP yoga class is moving from Boot Lake to Little Detroit Lake just for Water Carnival! Saturday July 19, start your morning with SUP Yoga at 7:30am. Bring a board or use one of mine! (Regular class fees apply). Meet by the Rossman Avenue boat landing and welcome the morning with sun salutations on the paddle board!

After stretching and flexing on the paddle board, stick around for the Stand Up Paddle Board race at 10:00am (9:00am registration at the Lake Street boat launch). The course is out and back along Detroit Lake's beautiful 1 mile sandy beach. No experience is necessary...it is a "just for fun" race! (But if you need some incentive...the top 3 finishers will earn a trophy and the first 50 participants will receive a waterproof bag just the right size for your smart phone).
AND...it is a button event (free when you show off your $2 Water Carnival button) if you bring your own board! I am bringing a dozen boards that will be available to rent too ($15 toward this year's Jaycee's charities).

If SUP activities don't fit into your schedule, come out and see what else is going on in Detroit Lakes this weekend! There is a 5k race, a chili cook-off, bean bag and volleyball tournaments on the beach, softball and baseball tournaments at the ball parks and of course, the Bash on the Beach featuring the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on Saturday night! The Parade of the Northwest is on Sunday...bring some sunscreen and a swimsuit...if it is hot out, nothing is better than a dip in the lake after our awesome parade!

There is something for everyone this weekend in Detroit Lakes! See you at the Lakes!
